Death traps: Holes in urban India

This article is an ethnographic study of potholes in roads urban India. The describes different forms attention to potholes, including cases media advocacy, clinical reflections on injury and attempts by accident survivor document danger the roads. Throughout, it argues for embodiment infrastructure, particularly, how people move through infrastructures. stems from a broader research project about traumatic traffic accidents, many due potholes. Taking these as sentinels wound culture, asks: What if theory took wounding characteristic feature everyday urbanism? might this mean studies infrastructure’s affordances, risks embodiment?
